IRIS — Beyond Sustainability
Our approach

Sustainability is not a constraint on strategy. It is how strategy gets redefined.

IRIS — the Institute of Responsible Innovation and Sustainability — exists to develop the skills leaders need to implement true sustainable solutions while keeping a profitable path. We turn sustainability from a compliance challenge into a strategic advantage, with impact that is meaningful and measurable.

Mission

Responsible leaders who create enduring value.

IRIS cultivates leaders who integrate environmental, social and governance principles into core business strategy — creating enduring value for their organisations, for society and for the planet.

We do it through innovative, data-driven education and collaboration that builds critical thinking, creativity and ethical decision-making. Our programmes are short and intensive because the people we work with do not have time for anything else.

What makes IRIS different
  • Evidence over ambition. We work from your organisation's data — benchmarked diagnostics, real cases, real numbers — not from pledges.
  • Decisions, not decks. Every programme ends with a plan you have defended in front of peers and faculty, with owners and dates.
  • Profitability stays in the room. The CFO conversation is part of the curriculum, not an afterthought.
  • Practitioner faculty. Our faculty run sustainability, AI and systems change inside real organisations.
  • Small cohorts, senior peers. 12–20 participants, selected for decision-making proximity.
Our framework

The 7 Principles of a Sustainable Company

Written by IRIS founder Arnaud Blandin and published by Palgrave Macmillan, The 7 Principles of a Sustainable Company provides a framework and a roadmap for companies and professionals who want to lead in the sustainability field. The seven are a system, not a checklist — purpose without a measured footprint is aspiration; resilience without stakeholder alignment is brittle.

P1

Purpose aligned with positive impact

Does purpose govern decisions, or decorate them?

P2

A growth strategy that respects planetary boundaries

Does growth depend on extraction, or on flourishing?

P3

Aligning with stakeholders: from materiality to value

Do stakeholders shape the strategy, or receive it?

P4

A measured and managed environmental footprint

Is the footprint measured across the value chain, owned and funded?

P5

Value creation beyond financial metrics

Is profit being drawn from the depletion of another capital?

P6

Resilience and adaptability

Are dependencies known, and is adaptive capacity protected under pressure?

P7

Be truly impactful

What actually changed that would not have changed anyway?

Learn the framework in depth

A structured course on the 7 Principles is in development. Register your interest to be notified when it opens.

Tools you take with you

Road-tested methods, not theory.

Diagnose

Sustainability Compass™

An AI-driven assessment of where your organisation stands, benchmarked against current market and industry data. Used in the masterclass to read your starting point honestly before designing anything.

Decide

Adapt · Thrive · Catalyse

A way to sort initiatives into value protection, value creation and strategic options — and to prioritise AI use cases against business value, strategic risk and feasibility, including in regulated contexts.

Deliver

90-day and 100-day plans

Every programme ends with a dated execution plan with owners and governance logic, defended in front of peers — and, in the Decision Lab, revisited at a Day-60 clinic.
